CONFERENCE SCHOLARSHIPS

Funded by Maddie's Fund & the IAABC Foundation

The CANIS Conference is committed to reducing barriers to education and connection in our field. To support this goal, a limited number of comprehensive CANIS Conference scholarships are available for the 2026 event.

Deadline for submissions is March 15. Scholarship winners will be notified by April 1.

Scholarship Details

These scholarships are designed to cover the full conference experience, including:

  • Conference registration

  • Travel support

  • Hotel accommodations

  • Airport transfers

  • Admission to Saturday Night Fever

  • A modest stipend to support meals and incidental expenses during the event

Scholarships are administered through our wonderful friends at the IAABC Foundation and made possible through the generous support of Maddie’s Fund.

Honoring Maddie’s Fund

In appreciation of this support, scholarship recipients are asked to help honor Maddie, the little dog who inspired a movement, by recognizing Maddie’s Fund through social media and other appropriate communications using the hashtag #ThanksToMaddie.

Recipients and partners are also encouraged to review the Maddie’s Fund Grant Recognition Toolkit, available at: http://www.maddiesfund.org/grant-recognition.htm

Learning Beyond the Conference
As part of Maddie’s Fund’s broader commitment to collaboration and education, applicants and recipients are encouraged to explore Maddie’s University and Maddie’s Pet Forum as spaces to gain knowledge, share ideas, and connect with others in advance of and beyond the 2026 CANIS Conference.
Our Commitment to Inclusion

CANIS is intentionally built as a collaborative, inclusive, and welcoming space for professionals across disciplines, backgrounds, and lived experiences. We are committed to supporting diversity, equity, and representation within the animal behavior and welfare community, and to amplifying voices that have historically faced barriers to access.

All are encouraged to apply. Selection is based on need, impact, and alignment with the mission and values of CANIS.

Deadline for submissions is March 15. Scholarship winners will be notified by April 1.

Applicants must be able to attend the full CANIS Conference in person and hold any necessary travel documents. Scholarships are intended to support individuals for whom financial barriers would otherwise limit participation.
